At Creative Play we design and manufacture exceptional quality playground equipment. Our rapidly expanding team have been designing, manufacturing, and installing playground equipment throughout the UK since 1991. We work with a vast variety of customers from Parish Councils to Schools to Hospitality establishments.
We are looking to appoint a Product Designer to join our team in Chester. The successful candidate will work alongside multiple departments to create exciting and innovative outdoor playground equipment.
The Role
Working alongside our design department and reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for Product Development throughout the company. The role requires a creative talent and technical background to create exciting and innovative new products, whilst also continuing to improve our existing product range of over 500 products.
Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of a Product Designer include, but are not limited to:
- Manage our existing product range and look to introduce improvements
- Create innovative and exciting new product ranges in line with British Standard EN1176
- Injecting creativity to produce industry leading new products
- Produce detailed drawings for manufacture & installation
- Design for Manufacture and Assembly
- Responsible for producing programs for CNC machines
- Liaise with other internal departments and management to spearhead new product development
- Managing Bills of Quantities and Materials
- Deliver the product development plan on time and to specification
- Provide support for technical queries
- Identify and deliver on opportunities to improve quality through redesign/production engineering
- Communicating and presenting new ideas and products to all stakeholders
- Responsible for market research
The Person
The key skills and qualities of a Product Designer are:
- Outstanding creative and technical skills
- A passion to drive projects and see through to completion
- Strong Product Design background
- Hands on approach and a great collaborator with different departments
- Experienced in use of Adobe and Microsoft Software packages
- Strong 3D CAD skills (Rhinoceros)
- Knowledge of CNC programs
- Ability to present and showcase new products and ideas to board member

Salary is £28-30K dependent on experience.
